Well the snow is gone; bring on new music, festivals and friends. Paddlefest, ECMA, Tim Chaisson, Andy Brown and Cavendish Beach.
This spring seems extra busy compared to past years. We have exciting festivals, rumors of “The Boss” coming to the maritimes and many friends recording new albums due out this year.
In a couple weeks April 11-15 the 2012 ECMA festival and award show is taking place in Moncton NB. This is an amazingly well done event full of the best talent on the east coast. This year the ECMA’s are taking over the entire city of Moncton with shows at the Tide and Bore, Plan B and many other great venues with great acts. Check out their website and full list of events if you are in Moncton in a few weeks. www.ecma.ca
Paddlefest is coming right up on May 3rd to the 6th. This festival is located down town St Andrews and is one of the friendliest and well-run festivals in the Maritimes. It is small but fierce. This years acts include Grand Theft Bus, Gordon Gets Lost, The Hupman Brothers and Andrew Hunter and the Gatherers. This is a great kick of to festival season in beautiful scenery with great people make sure you check it out.
Our friend Tim Chaisson is recording his new album in the big city of Toronto. This PEI native has been winning over Canadians by playing shows back and forth across the country in the last three years. He was a guest fiddle player on The Trews hit song Highway of Hero’s and is often playing with them live. If you have a chance head over to his donation site and help him in the recording process and get one of his album packages in return. It’s not everyday that you can get cds, T-shirts, guitars and live shows from a musician and rising star of this caliber. Chaisson is offering amazing deals with donations supporting this new album. I am going to donate once this article is complete. Speaking of PEI the Cavendish Beach Music Festival have announced a lot of their lineup including country superstars; Alabama, Dierks Bently, Rascall Flats and when the dates get closer be sure to check out the local talents that are added to the cards. Cavendish Beach is a beautiful spot to visit even when there is not a festival taking place. So check it out country shows are a great time even if you are not a regular listener. As many will tell you have never partied until you have been in a crowd of rowdy country music fans.http://www.cavendishbeachmusicfestival.com/
Feels Good friend Andy Brown is in the Sonic Temple studio in Halifax recording his follow up to hit album “False Alarm.” Brown has a lot of the work done and this album seems to be developing quickly and hopefully we will have new music from Fredericton’s folk rocker sooner then later. His single “Ashes” that was featured on ABC’s show Rookie Blue has surpassed the 100,000 listens mark on You tube and Andy Brown will be hitting new heights in the next year. Be sure to watch for more news everyday as this album is progressing. You can follow Andy Brown’s progress on his twitter @andybrownsounds and check out this video of his new song “Tinman”http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Edj1v808UTg
