Day 1 Departure
The day we had been planning and dreaming about for months had finally arrived; although we still
didn't have the cds in our hands we said our final goodbyes and
hopped aboard the train. It still doesn't feel quite real even though
I'm laying in the top bunk of our cabin room listening to northern
New Brunswick pass underneath us. I can't express the gratitude we
feel for VIA Rail for giving us this opportunity, its a great way for
them to support independent musicians while entertaining their paying
customers at the same time. Everyone from VIA has been so welcoming
so far, the meals have been better than I expected and the “mystery
tea” has been delicous. (mystery tea is actually Inuit Tea that
they sell on the train, just for the record)
We played our first of many unplugged train shows today; the first to a crowd which tripled in size during
the set (from 1 person to 3) and the second to 2 enthusiastic
northern NB girls (we had our first poster signing) and a couple who
turned out to work for CBC in Montreal. They bought the sampler CD we
had burned off before the set, took our contact info and asked if we
would be available for an interview tomorrow in Montreal for english
CBC! We're trying not to get our hopes up, but it would be a great
chance opportunity and a great way to spend the day and promote our
show at Barfly tomorrow night.
That's all I feel like typing right now, I think I'm going to let the train rock me to sleep. No internet
on this leg of the journey, so I'll post this tomorrow (Monday) so if
you're reading it tomorrow, replace all tomorrows with todays, and
all todays with yesterdays. Got it?
Night.
