Day 12 - Penobsquis, NB
What we thought was going to be a house concert, turned out to be a house party in Penosquis
(about 5 mins from Sussex) The show was organized by our buddy Sean Hill (Backwoods
Entertainment) and was hosted by an old friend Glen Maclean and his beautiful wife-to-be
Emily. We set up in an old barn that they have converted into a bar and dance party area.
After sound check and some awesome devil sticks/juggling/hacky sack sessions, we went on to
our most dancy crowd so far on tour.
It was a good set ended off with our shuffle demon cover 'cheese on bread' which by this
point has become almost a staple towards the end of our sets. Sean took over entertainer
duties with a couple of DJ sets, and we were free to enjoy ourselves for the rest of the
night with campfire singalongs, tentjumping, and lots of other foolishness.

Day 13 - Backstreet Records - Saint John, NB
After a failed attempt to get breakfast in Sussex at 2 pm, we headed into the dirty john for
a busking set at Backstreet Records. It was a sunny day in Saint John, so we set up out on
Germaine St, where we competeded with street construction and church bells. We played a
short set around 3 for the employees of the two closest businesses (Babatte from Backstreet
and the owner of Bean's Books next door) so we decided to take a break and go back at it
around 5.
This was a much better plan, owen had some friends come out and we played to business people
as they walked home from work, we ended up doing quite well busking, so we treated ourselves
to a delicious meal at Thandi's to celebrate.
We didn't have a show booked for the night so we took up Babette's offer to stay at her camp
on the Kingston Peninsula to get a good night sleep before heading to PEI in the morning.

Day 14 - The Fiddle Farm - Belfast, PEI
A long drive by maritime standards got us to Owen's old stomping grounds in Belfast, PEI.
The Fiddle Farm is an old farmhouse restored by an English fella who builds viola's and
paints amazingly technical portraits of cars and instruments. He designed the room that we
played in solely for music with big ceilings and no right angles. We played completely
unplugged which left my microphone free to record the set. We'll be posting some live tunes
on Owen's myspace soon (www.myspace.com/owensteel)
The set was alot of fun, they were a very appreciative crowd and we even got our first
double encore of the trip. The new song "Wake" which we basically learned on the road had
really come together at this point, and the crowd made us play it a second time to end the
night, just in time for everyone to get home to watch game 7 of the Stanley Cup Final.
Day 15 - Ampersand Cafe - Charlottetown, PEI
At this point we were really coming to the realization that the tour was almost complete,
two more shows to go and then we would be heading back to our respective parts of New
Brunswick, Scott would be going back to work in the lab in Fredericton, and me and Owen
would be continuing our vegabond lifestyle in Saint Andrews. We got to the Ampersand nice
and early and met the lovely Meaghan, who made us delicious coffees and delighted us with
her smile. The staff at the Ampersand really can't be beat, everyone who works there/owns
the place were the nicest people, if you are ever in Charlottetown, take a walk up Water St
to the cafe and say hello, they even give free coffee on Sundays! such an awesome place.
After getting situated in the upstairs music room, we headed out in search of the Gahan
Brewery to fill up our Growlers. The staff at the Brewpub were also wickedly awesome, and
after a sample of every beer they had we decided to stick around for dinner. Again if you
are ever in Ch'town, go to the Gahan brewpub and get the Stout, you will not be
disappointed.
The openers for the cafe show were local, Old Man Heggie (Drew) and Matt and Nick from Weak
Size Fish. We took the stage to a small crowd, it appeared that everyone had taken off after
the WSF set, but they were just downstairs getting coffees or smoking because 2 songs in the
room was full of quiet, listening folks, who loved our sound. We even had a run in with an
older lady who claimed to be from London, but Owen is sure she was an Alien, the universe is
watching!
After the show we were invited back to the Owner's house for burgers and laughs. It turns
out that Don (the owner, and Meaghan's Dad) owns pretty much the whole block, and his house
is the oldest surviving brick building in the city. They also had a band (New Royalty)
recording an album in an upstairs studio, so eventually all 10 of us, wine bottles and
growlers in tow, busted in on the recording and ended up singing group vocals for the album.
I can't wait to hear how it all turned out.
After the recording, and the swing dance party, we headed out to Baba's to hear Drew's band,
have some laughs, and sample some sort of concoction called Sweetos. After the bar closed we
tried not to get beat up waiting in line for chinese food, jumped some parking meters, and
then headed back to the huge house to get some sleep. Ch'town really showed us an awesome
time, I can't wait to go back.

Day 15 - Gus' Pub - Halifax, NS
After saying our goodbyes, signing the guest book, and one more free expresso from Meaghan,
we headed back to Owen's mom's for fresh off the boat lobster given to us by a family friend
who was at the Fiddle Farm show. (my stomach was not up to eating the poor little fella, I
had biscuits and wine) After the feast we headed to the Ferry to take us to Nova Scotia.
An uneventful couple hours later and we were in Halifax, we were invited to a backyard BBQ
at Eva and Jill's and the weather cooperated just right for lots of fun on Vernon St. Good
friends make Halifax what it is.
We headed to the Pub to set up and sound check around 8, the VLT players shot us some
strange looks, but didn't take too much notice of us. We had the great fortune of having two
great openers for our last show, Dave from Acres and Acres and Chrissi, who performs as Save
September. They were both tremendously awesome on stage and even donated their portion of
the door to Suzie's gas tank.
Our last set was one of the most energetic we have had, there was lots of knee boppin bee
bop going on on stage, and as the tour had shown Cheese on Bread was a great closer to the
night.
Quote of the Night; "probably a Busch Beer joke, can't really remember"
I'd just like to say thanks to everyone who came out to shows, bought a cd, threw money in a
hat, let us sleep on their floors, cooked us food, whatever! thanks so much again, and I
can't wait to get back on the road!!
