Day 1: Thursday
10:00am - after a brief stop at the local Picaroons Growler store to grab all the Feels Good I can carry, Im on the road to that cute little island with its cute little potatos and pigtails.
2:30pm - after what seems like a suspiciously brief drive I roll into Charlotte town having no idea where I'm supposed to go or what Im supposed to be doing. Its cool tho, just as Im considering pulling over to consult my handy phone/ unerversal question answering machine, I spot a kindred group of confused travelers weaving in and out of traffic in a dusty blue VW van. I figure its a safe bet to follow them into town. After a few minutes of hair raising chase, I spot the 4 letters I was looking for together consecutivly "RODD". Perfect, however, upon further inspection, I find myself at the RODD royal, too fancy for my kind. The clerk politly gives me direction to the rougher sister Hotel and I leave slightly saddened that I'm missing out on the luxury of the "royal". However, once finding this Hotel of lesser moral repute, I find it to surpase the lame highway hotel in all extravegance.
7:00pm- I've been at the newly established Feels Good headquaters since 3 trying to decode the vast and mysterious ecmas schedule, when Eva arrives! With a fresh set of eyes, we make a gameplan/ stratigic map of the night.
9:00pm - Shane from Carmen Townsend stops by our room with great news, turns out the entire extended Tom Fun Orchestra family are staying on our floor as well. We all agree that after a few shows, we should all get together for some plesent conversation. We then promptly get our first polite noise complaint. Unshaken, and gladly established in our evenings plans, we set off into the night to see as much music as humanly possible before were chased back into our rooms, we scurry down to Lovestorm and are succefully subdued by their hauntingly hypnotising melodies, then, promplty get woken up again by the Glen Stickly Quartet with some good old classic Jazz Rock. After a few tunes, we jump up and race off to the Y studio (a set of renovated Lofts that used to be a YMCA, just goergous) To catch the end of Illusions set and the entirty of Carmens. Unfortunaly we miss David Myles do to getting caught up in the boggie, good thing everyone is playing all over the place all weekend long. Once Carmen was done, we made our way to the Delta via random hotel rooms. Catching some of Sherman Downey & the Ambiguous Case, great fringer waging tunes there. Grab a little of Ross Neilson and his ever sufferin bastards, and then its off to home base.
3:00am - the first painting ensuese in our bathroom and is developing as a lovely aardvark when I have the unfortunatly familiar terror set in my chest.
"hey guys, has anyone seen the camera bag?"
"yeah Paul, last I saw it was on the gazebo outside the hotel"
With a mad rush outside supressing the panic of losing all of Feels Goods lively hood, including Elephant Dog, I have the bag safe in my hands once again. Thank you Party gods for always looking after us and the one homeless guy in charliotte town sleeping on the bench beside it and guarding it for us. We all breath a sigh of releaf and just as we start the rushed drunken recount of everything that had just happend, we hear a gruff voice to our right. Its the nice late night Security Guard whom we had been trying to cheer up all night with hugs and words of encouragement.
"Guys could you come over here for a second? I need to talk to you"
Great, out of the frying pan and into the fire. We shuffle over, heads down and proverbeal tails between our legs, ready for a chewing.
"Listen you guys," says the security guard, "you've been really nice to me all night and I really appreciate it, so would you like a upgrade to the super sweet?"
4:00am - a frantic late night move insues, and after the dust settles, we all reflect on what a hug can do in our new 4 room sweet, with access to a private roof top patio.
5:30am - a nice early bedtime to make sure I have plenty of energy for the next day.
Friday:
2:00pm - Now its off to the Belle Comedians. They start right now so I gotta hurry. Sorry if this is unenteligable, but proof reading is not a luxury I have time for right now.
So in conclusion, Charlottetown is beautiful, moving the ECMA's to April was briliant, and everything is perfectly on track,
yours,
Paul
