Was just half way through a detailed entry about the second night of Harvest, However, I'm typing on the capital bars keypad and its all sticky with booze and I pressed the wrong button and lost everything.

Harvest is here! Almost. The Final Countdown to Harvest

Happy Harvest!

So it is Monday of the most anticipated week in Fredericton. We have been talking about Harvest since May and this massive party is about to kick off. Today I will focus on the info for the not sold out events of Saturday and talk about the mega Capital Complex weekend. Oh and also a big congrats to our Friends Picaroons for winning two golds, two bronzes and Brewer of the year awards from this past weekends Brewers awards in…

Recording Begins? (09/07/11)

Whereabouts: Marysville Residence | Fredericton, NB

- September 7, 2011

- Weather: Cloudy...

This past weekend marks the first Pirate Soul trip that I embarked on. It's lovely when you first start going out and sharing your music with people. There is a sense of excitement with a touch of nervousness that comes with it; will people enjoy my music? But in the end it is yourself that should matter. If you enjoy what you're doing, than the rest should fall into…

Countdown to Harvest 5 TGIF

Haynes baby!

Now the Friday of Harvest is there a better time to be had. By Friday Harvest is in full swing, people are on day 3 of partying still not exhausted yet and the entire down town area is alive. Those who are “responsible” and have not been out all night Wednesday and Thursday hit the down town core and there are hundreds of people everywhere. The new party people give the 3rd day folks a little kick of energy and the real party starts…

Honeybeans (09/02/11)

Whereabouts: Honeybeans (Coffee, Tea & Treats) | Saint Andrews, NB

- September 2, 2011

- Weather: The sun is shining bright!

This week I like to think that I officially started my new job/career. I sometimes think that jobs and careers are funny, but alas we all need to contribute to society somehow right? This new job entails me getting in a vehicle, driving around the world (starting small) and experiencing different places.

I get to meet…

What is a Monster Jam? Countdown to Harvest 4

Fredericton is Buzzing

With the cancellation of Gregg Allman and the announcement of replacement acts Buddy Guy and Levon Helm Band the excitement for Harvest could not be higher even though we are still three weeks away.  As much as we do not want to say goodbye to summer I think everyone is waiting to yell out “Happy Harvest” all around town.  One of the best features of Harvest is the close distance between all of the performance…

Looking For New Bandmates!!

Hey FeelsGood Community!!

I'm making my way back into the musical community, and this time I'm going a whole different way - I've got a band, and we're doing originals. Our sound is a pop/folk/funk infusion and its very upbeat, we try to keep things bumpin.

Unfortunately though, fall is upon us and my awesome trio (and for a short time, a quad) is now down to a duo.

We are currently looking for some new members as our older members are moving…

Countdown to Harvest 3; the New Headliners and Budweiser Opening Acts!

Rock Icons!

We are now a month away so its time to book the babysitter, think of an excuse to get out of work and to make sure you have your tickets. I know from the experience of having a lot of absent minded associates that the shows always sell out, they will, so make sure you get your tickets today. It never fails the Monday before Harvest kicks off I have 10 phone calls asking me if I know how to land some tickets to the sold out shows.…

Harvest is coming! Preparing for Harvest Article 2

Wednesday cont.

We learned early Saturday morning that legend Gregg Allman has again come under health issues and will not be performing.  So what will this article be about? This is going to be about the other amazing acts performing Wednesday September 14th in support of the soon to be announced headliner. Also I will let everyone know that you can refund your Gregg Allman tickets at the Harvest Central once they announce the new…

Just a few more days until Fredericton will be treated to amazing Canadian talent from all over our great country and you are a fool if you miss this festival. Harvest Less then two months away!

The countdown is on!

As scary as it sounds to a lot of people September is not that far away these days. This weekend marks the 5th of August and that reminds me that Harvest is a little over 40 days away and the joyful “HAPPY HARVEST” will be heard all over town. I am as big of a lover of summer as the next guy but I look forward to September every year for the week that is the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival. This year I will be taking a look at the festival in a few…

VIA Blog # 3

I am most always late!

Departing the train in Winnipeg lent itself to such a statement: With an 8 A.M scheduled arrival, and a festival sign in recommended no later than 9, things were going to be tight. So, when the train arrived an hour and a half ahead of schedule in the morning, my worries were set aside, and I decided to hang out a bit longer in my cabin… Of course, I then lost track of time altogether, and before I knew it, this happened:

Rap, rap,…

Arrival at the Falls Brook Centre

I arrived in Florenceville, New Brunswick shortly after 4pm today. It was a dreary, dark, and rainy 9 hour bus ride from Halifax. Surprisingly I slept most of the way, contorting my near 6-foot body into all sorts of fun shapes. Slight loneliness in my heart, for I have been visiting with my loved ones (friends & family) since the first of July. I left Mexico July 1st – and since then I have passed through 2 states (1 US, 1 Canadian) and 5 provinces. Falls Brook…

VIA Rail Blog # 2

It is a fortunate situation, I think, to live in a country where railroad culture is still alive. Although passenger trains in Canada have had their trials, with certain routes being discontinued over the years, it cannot be denied that a presence is still held. The VIA # 1 line, The Canadian, from Toronto - Vancouver, with stops in between, is basically a moving museum. Most of its cars date back to the 1950's - the stainless steel units having withstood the test of…

Q & A with Joss Richer

1. What is Emerge and how did it come about?

A group of four young artists created the Emerge Artists Collective back in 2004, as a means for them to show their work collectively and become more familiar with the whole exhibition process. The original founders have scattered to all corners of the country since, but the collective continues to attract new emerging artists every year. We currently count a dozen members who, in typical fashion, work in a variety of media…

VIA Rail Blog (Part 1 of 3)

"Amazing Grace. How sweet the sound

That saved a wretch like me.

I once was lost but now am found,

Was blind but now I see.”

The train helped deliver me to this hymn.

I found myself singing as I stood in line for the last supper of the 2011 Winnipeg Folk Festival, in Birds Hill Park, Manitoba. Just days earlier, for a friends wedding, I’d played my guitar on the porch of a large mansion called ‘Covenhoven’. Covenhoven is…
