“Inability”

As fear fades, a slight dribble in the well, circling the drain, falling down to guilt
One asked a question that plucked god’s strands, polished by the tears of angel glands
That took with the earth, the roots that lay, the neurological complexity of gaea’s vertebrae
And sent, was an answer
Drifting out like the rippled aftermath of a bird’s wing stroking an unsteady surface
The quakes came charging in,…

There is a smell in the kitchen,
Like stale silver oxidizing in the cupboard.
Unused, and arrogant.
You ignored the smell yesterday
At breakfast. But I
Heard you sniffing, and saw
Your nostrils a flare.
So are you going to set the mousetrap
Or am I?

Hello handsome five o'clock shadow
Your hand on my shoulder is very heavy, you know.
Your mature teeth chatter, inhibiting speech.
And I'm not willing to speak your mind.

Adjustments are posthumous, predicated and unauthorized
Misstamped mistakes are praised in retrospection
While critiqued as present day negligibility.
Awakening to damp sheets knotted tightly around my ankles
Breeds frustration in early morning reverie
And guilt is rampant in the ear of the one beside me.
We didn't think we'd have to share any truths last night
But the morning light begs them
I'd sooner see you go; small town candor makes you…

I'm watching you cook supper
And am jealous
You spend yourself
With produce
Leaving nothing
For me
Really, I sit at the table
Pretending to read a book
Surreptitiously wishing
I were the onion
Making you cry.

Poem I wrote about a week ago.
“Bi-Dimensional Turbulence”
Written by: River A. Murphy

Her name was hush, being that what she gave, and all men’s thoughts a sin
Her nights, they say, would turn to stone, all meat that lie above the bone
Eclipsing the heart of the one whose soul, that did not hold, the name of her true love
Take my hand you apparition filled with pride,
Your singing revenge, the…

If you weren't going to read this
If they weren't going to judge
Your life would be much different
Whether told truthfully or not
our opinions would be holy
pedestals would rise, bearing gifts of prejudiced pride
consuming a creativity of set standards
Golden medallions bought with milk quickly tarnish our egos
the envious eclipse any livelihood to date
Do you understand where I'm going with this
This colloquial discourse of artistic…

We do this little ditty
in the room with the least privacy
urging the whole world of no one
to interpret what we say when
eyes drip and drop to sleep
and nose hairs rattle snake shake
no i don't trust you but that's not your fault
track records be damned, i seek bravery in the face of a scary duo
gently held for a time, in confidence and organic order
moments like these are the icons of life
the slathering of stimuli, mixed amongst…
