Tickets and passes for the 20th anniversary of the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival will go on sale two months earlier than past years.
The Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival announced today that a limited number of passes and tickets will be sold online only, starting on Saturday, May 15th at 9AM. Tickets will be available online at www.harvestjazzandblues.com.
"We know there's a tremendous amount of buzz around this year's Festival. We're getting calls every day. By putting a portion of our passes and tickets on sale in May, our most loyal patrons can plan their summer knowing they have their tickets in hand," said Brad Wasson, chair of the 2010 Festival.
Organizers will sell about half the available inventory of Ultimate Passes, Nightly Passes, as well as tickets in the online-only Early-Bird sale. The remaining tickets and passes will go on sale as usual on Saturday, July 17th.
The Festival will release the names of its six marquee headline acts in the month of April.
"We're very, very excited about this year's line up. It's our best program of Harvest experiences yet. We've signed some of the best talent in the world and I think you can expect to see some of the really cool collaborations between artists, the kind Harvest has become known for," says Wasson.
The move to sell tickets and passes earlier is also driven by an increasingly competitive environment, says Wasson.
"In the past few years, we've seen a lot more major music events emerge in Atlantic Canada. It's great for music lovers, but we want to make sure our fans have Harvest blocked off in their calendar, their rooms booked and their restaurant reservations made, before other events announce their line ups," said Wasson. "In part, this is about ensuring that Harvest continues to be the top international festival in Atlantic Canada. It's important that we're top of mind when people in the region are deciding which great music events they'll attend this summer," says Wasson.
This is the 20th edition of the Festival, which was inaugurated in September of 1991.
